Although Self Concept is a resource forum, I think it would be pleasant to have an introduction place where we could "introduce" ourselves. I find it a nice and easier way to join the community. :)

I would agree it would suffice better than an individual topic (which works as well). However, keep in mind introductory boards are not vital to the well-being of the board and generally serves as a gathering for new members which the thread currently in place does justice. But it doesn't hurt to add one nonetheless. :p

One thing about an Introduction forum is that most member will only post welcome reply to the "popular" or to well known individuals. Those members will get more attention whereas a less known member will simply get one or two replies and sometimes even none. We want everyone to feels welcome and receive the same treatment so having one introduction topic for all members will works much better. |

That is not really true. I am a new member in many resource forums (including Self Concept) and That has never happened to me. Still, I find it very pleasant to be welcomed by elder members. Usually, we don't care about how many people welcome us, all we want is a place to tell where we came from and our story. |

You're definitely correct in that aspect and I agree, but I'd like to ask you how the idea of a full board dedicated to that differs from that of the topic. They both serve the same purpose and can both be used in definite succession. Is there something we're missing which distinctively makes a difference between the two? While that might not happens to you but it might happens to others. Like Arianna stated, both serves the same purpose and there's no different between the two. You can always tell your story on the post that you made whether it's a reply or a new topic. 8) |

Hmm... I see both points of view, but I'd have to agree with Dimitri. My only reasoning is that in past experience with forums, everyone has a right to feel welcomed, like you said Tue. An introductory topic would be great! Also, It could just be a read-only forum, were we just introduce ourselves, and that's that. It's better than nothing, right? [SamJJE101] |

I think that the introduction section is pretty much useless.. people will get to know you if you post on other sections and if you REALLY wanna tell your story there is a blog section on your profile so that should be enough. :tsk:

There is a topic, here. :/ I don't see much purpose for an introduction area. If you've active in the community, people will get to know you. Plus, with an introduction topic, older members can get information about all the newer members in one spot rather than looking in each topic. |
